Asynchronization
I began working on this short film when I realized how much the sound of out of tune instruments fascinated me. Old bar pianos, guitars, and even wind chimes possess a unique music that we rarely hear in a concert hall. I adore the feeling of wavering pitches that are just slightly out of tune with one another; the pitches combine to create aural “beats,” or oscillations. They feel out of sync with one another, hence the title of this piece.
